Harry Sanborn (Nicholson) plans to spend the last two days of the weekend with Marin (Pitt) at her mother's seaside villa, but his heart aches there. Erika Berry (Keaton), Marin's mother, reluctantly agrees to take care of him for a few days. However, Harry soon finds himself drawn to Erika.
